The Board recognizes its position on lands covered by the Haldimand Treaty of 1784. The Board agrees to acknowledge this at all public meetings and on its website. The Hagersville Food Bank and the community we serve, is situated on and adjacent to lands within the Haldimand Treaty of 1784, a formal agreement acknowledging treaty territory belonging to Six Nations of the Grand River. This is the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and the Mississauga of the Credit peoples, and we honour their stewardship, past, present and future. We acknowledge the enduring presence of these indigenous peoples and we are committed to understanding past experiences while actively working towards reconciliation.
